Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band consists of Mike Ness (vocals, guitar), Jonny Wickersham (guitar), Brent Harding (bass), and David Hidalgo Jr. (drums). Social Distortion emerged from the Orange County hardcore punk scene in the late 1970s alongside bands such as Agent Orange and the Adolescents. The band went on hiatus in the mid-1980s while Ness underwent treatment for drug addiction and dealt with legal problems. Following their reformation, Social Distortion incorporated influences from country, blues and early rock and roll into their punk rock sound. The band's lineup has undergone numerous changes, with Ness remaining its only constant member. Longtime former members include guitarist Dennis Danell, bassist John Maurer, and drummers Christopher Reece and Charlie Quintana. The current lineup has been together since 2010.
