Rancid
— sobre
Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California, in 1991 by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, both former members of Operation Ivy. The band is frequently cited, along with Green Day and the Offspring, as part of the group of acts that helped renew mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid 1990s. Rancid has maintained a substantial portion of its original audience, much of which is connected to its underground punk roots. The band has undergone two lineup changes since its formation, with Armstrong and Freeman remaining constant members. The current lineup includes Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums. Rancid was originally formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and drummer Brett Reed, who left the group in 2006 and was succeeded by Steineckert. The original trio recorded the band’s first album, and Frederiksen joined during the subsequent tour. Rancid has
