Thais Dayane da Silva, who performs under the stage name MC Tha, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. Born in Cidade Tiradentes, on the outskirts of São Paulo, she ventured into funk parties as the only female MC. Despite not having studied music, Thais began to compose only by observing other songs, soon resulting in an amateur recording being disseminated in Cidade Tiradentes through his late brother Douglas. At the age of 15, Thais composed a track and was encouraged by a friend to record it. Through this, she began to perform at events in the periphery. Tha entered a journalism degree at age 18 and eventually put music aside to focus on her studies and social and cultural projects. Thais was encouraged to return to singing by Jaloo, with whom she shared a house at the time and became a close friend.
