Left to Die is an American death metal supergroup formed by former Death members Rick Rozz and Terry Butler, alongside Matt Harvey of Exhumed and Gruesome and drummer Gus Rios of Gruesome. Formed to pay homage to the formative years of Chuck Schuldiner's Death, Left to Die focuses primarily on the raw, primitive sound of Death's earliest material, including songs from the Mantas demos and the Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy eras. After several years of performing this classic material live, the band released their debut full-length, Initium Mortis, in July 2026 through Relapse Records. The album features newly recorded versions of early Death and Mantas demo material, preserving the primitive aggression, rawness and old-school spirit of death metal’s formative years.
