Since 2001, a bunch of young guys collectively known as dOWNSHIFTER have been slowly but certainly paving their own niche in the overcrowded local and national alternative music scenes. Having paid more attention to their own style and sound as opposed to what is currently popular or sells more units as also meant that the band hasn't found it as easy in grabbing the headlines as certain others have. Then again, for a band such as dOWNSHIFTER, the most important thing has been to make their own music original, special and something for the heart, rather than a quick five minutes of fame. Despite this, their sound has an all round appeal. It shows their rich musical backgrounds and encompasses a range of sounds from the indie, rock, hardcore and post hardcore spectrum. It concentrates on mid-paced anthemic tunes, building around a driving bass and drum section, adding guitars that at times hold a fragile note in the air, at others abrasively hammer out discords that join the rhythm sect
