Brian Peter George Eno (born 15 May 1948) is an English musician, songwriter, record producer, visual artist, sound designer, author, and political activist. He is known for his contributions to ambient music and electronica, as well as for his work in rock and pop music as a producer, composer, and collaborator. Eno has described himself as a "non-musician", reflecting his emphasis on conceptual and experimental approaches to music-making. He has been regarded as an influential figure in popular music. In 2019, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the band "Roxy Music". Eno was born in Suffolk and studied painting and experimental music at Ipswich Civic College in the mid-1960s before continuing his education at Winchester School of Art. In 1971, he joined the glam rock group "Roxy Music" as a synthesiser player, contributing to two albums before leaving the band in 1973.
